Over four consecutive Wednesday evenings, Prof Garth ABRAHAM will introduce participants to the principal themes of International Humanitarian Law, sometimes known as the Law of Armed Conflict. The topics to be addressed will include:
Distinction between Ius Ad Bellum and Ius In Bello and an Historical Introduction to IHL;
The Classification of an Armed Conflict and the Consequences of Classification;
Combatants and Protected Persons;
Conduct of Hostilities and Means and Methods of Warfare;
Grave Breaches of the Laws of War and an Introduction to International Criminal Justice.
The course will be of interest to all those dealing with armed conflict and its consequences (Aid and NGO workers, Diplomats, Politicians, Civil Servants, Journalists, Missionaries).
At the end of the Course, an attendance certificate will be awarded.
