I have studied and lectured at many tertiary institutions and Business Schools in South Africa but St Augustine College changed my heart.

What is racism?
Mrs Peggy O'Hagan & Ms Gisela Rontsch
Duration & Time:
29 September - 30 September, 2019, 09h00 – 16h00
The two day workshop would be useful for persons:
Interested in current debates about ‘racism’ in education;
wanting to upgrade their writing skills;
pursuing, or thinking of pursuing, postgraduate study.
During the workshop you’ll be familiarized with strategies related to critical and analytical reading as well as advanced research techniques. You will learn how to use concept maps, how to synthesise the work of many authors concisely and accurately, how to reference correctly while avoiding inadvertent plagiarism, and other skills essential in academic writing.
For this course you will read several articles about racism that may challenge your thinking and then write a 500-word academic essay, applying the new skills, not to mention ideas. Personal feedback will be provided at five different stages.
The Course is endorsed by South African Council for Educators (SACE) for 15 Professional Development (PD) points.
The cost of the workshop is R 1 500.00 (excluding course material). Please deposit the amount in the St Augustine Bank Account. Please reference your deposit with your SURNAME and the Name of the Workshop (eg A. AURELIUS ‘Academic Writing’). Please email your deposit slip to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
